Fullerton, CA’s Cold War Kids make music with roots that go deep and wide, embracing influences as diverse as Bob Dylan, Billie Holiday, Jeff Buckley, and the Velvet Underground. They began crafting their soulful, blues-inflected take on indie rock as Cold War Kids in 2004. The band’s unique sound and impassioned live act generated a buzz - particularly from bloggers - that grew with each tour and release and the band’s full-length debut Robbers & Cowards arrived in the Fall of 2006. I always said that There Goes The Fear wouldn’t be another festival news site, sticking with gigs and tours. However, one festival has caught my eye for the second year running… the Hydro Connect Festival.
Apologies for the lack of updates here on There Goes The Fear. Things are kind of hectic as I deal with the end of term and a new job.
Usher is a worldwide r&b sensation with many hits under his belt. The highly talented Usher Raymond scored his first hits in 1994. His second album ‘My Way’ went multi-platinum. Usher followed up with the album ‘8701? which won the Best Album at the Mobo Awards 2001. Usher is still young but already a well established r&b artist.
Those nice folks over at Somerset house have announced details of their Summer Series 2008 events. This summer sees the likes of Fratellis, We Are Scientists and Justice all grace the old courtyard over the course of 10 days in July.
Tina Turner has just released that she is going back on tour. She broke the story earlier this week on Oprah with one of her friend Cher.
