The Pigeon Detectives, Fratellis, Zutons and CSS have all been announced to be headlining their own three night UK and Ireland tours for MTV as part of their “Brand Spanking New” tours. Some of the best names and up and coming names in the music biz will be making their way around the country, playing venues smaller than they normally do. So be sure to get your tickets when they go on sale on Friday (7th March) at 9am.

Oxford lads Supergrass have been announced as playing a special one-off home town gig to help launch the shiny new Oxford Academy, formerly the Oxford Zodiac.

One of my favourite venues, the zodiac was what every venue should be - dark, dingy, sticky floored and in a questionable location. For all of its faults you couldn’t help but love it. Since it was bought by AMG earlier this year they have announced a complete overhaul with an increase to 1,350 total capacity for the whole venue, which means some bigger bands will be coming its way. There’s an interesting debate about it over on Drowned in Sound.

Tickets for Supergrass’ show go on sale on Monday (22nd July) at 11am, and more shows are to be announced shortly.

I know, I know, I said that the last post would be the last one about events on sale this week. I was wrong. Just found out that one of my like all time favourite bands, Ladytron, are playing the Bloomsbury Ballroom on Friday 31st August.

They fuse electro and indie and shoegaze altogether for one hell of a mishmash of sounds, that is just sublime. Plus the two front girls are decidely easy on the eyes.

Everyone’s favourite middle of the road pop stars that you and your mum can both love, Maroon 5, have announced a winter UK arena tour, where they’ll be taking in such heady heights as Glasgow, Manchester, Brum and London. Tickets are on sale on Saturday morning I do believe, though it may be Friday possibly. Probably Saturday though.

Tomorrow morning at 9am is the place to be to get your tickets for Alexisonfire at Brixton Academy. They’ll be bringing their turbulent and explosive dynamics and intricate guitar melodies to the capital on Tuesday 13th November.
