Jack Johnson / Massive 2008 UK Shows (UPDATED)

Jack JohnsonSome of you have probably heard by now, but Jack Johnson has announced a massive one off UK show this summer.

He’ll play London’s Hyde Park on Wednesday 2nd July. Why it’s a Wednesday and not a weekend is anyone’s guess, but that’s when he plays, so go get your tickets.

He’ll be providing a whole day of entertainment, with support from G Love & Special Sauce and Mason Jennings, along with others to be announced.

UPDATE: Jack has just announced three more dates:

Thursday 3rd July - Birmingham NIA
Saturday 5th July - Newquay Watergate Bay
Monday 7th July - Manchester MEN Arena

Tickets are on presale now from Live Nation, and go on general sale on Friday (8th Feb) at 9am I believe.

Mencap gigs announced (UPDATED)

Little Noise LogoThe brilliant Mencap have announced this year’s “Little Noise Sessions”, a series of intimate, acoustic gigs, which will take place from Tuesday 20th November to Wednesday 28 November 2007, at Islington’s Union Chapel in London. They’ll be hosted by Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley.

To get tickets you’ll have to register here to get tickets when they go on sale. Ticket registration opens on Tuesday 2 October and closes at 12.00 Friday 19 October. Those who have registered can then buy tickets online on a first-come-first-served basis from 9am on Monday 22 October. Tickets are £35 each.

The gigs will raise money for Mencap’s Arts Awards scheme which enables children and young people with a learning disability to take part in local arts projects.

The EnemyBoth The Enemy and Jack Penate have announced new dates instores next week.

You will need to collect wristbands from the store in the morning for entry to each of the Enemy’s three shows outlined below:

Monday 17 September - 6.00pm - HMV, 90 Market St, Manchester
Thursday 20 September - 5.00pm - Chalky’s, 78 High Street, Banbury, Oxon, OX16 5JG
Friday 21 September - 6.00pm - Virgin on Oxford Street in London

Meanwhile Jack Penate is doing two instores to celebrate his new single “Second, Minute Or Hour”, playing the below two dates. Wristbands are limited to two per person, available on 24th September at both stores.

Gonzo 5th Birthday Tour / Bloc Party / Cribs / We Are Scientists + More

Bloc Party’s Kele OkerekeBelieve it or not, Gonzo on MTV2 is 5 years old this year. To celebrate, they’re doing a tour of Barfly venues around the UK, with some of the best bands of the moment. Catch Bloc Party, We Are Scientists (who are doing yet another UK show) and The Cribs amongst other bands at each of the dates.
