The brilliant Mencap have announced this year’s “Little Noise Sessions”, a series of intimate, acoustic gigs, which will take place from Tuesday 20th November to Wednesday 28 November 2007, at Islington’s Union Chapel in London. They’ll be hosted by Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley.

To get tickets you’ll have to register here to get tickets when they go on sale. Ticket registration opens on Tuesday 2 October and closes at 12.00 Friday 19 October. Those who have registered can then buy tickets online on a first-come-first-served basis from 9am on Monday 22 October. Tickets are £35 each.

The gigs will raise money for Mencap’s Arts Awards scheme which enables children and young people with a learning disability to take part in local arts projects.

One of Manchester’s finest rising stars, The Courteeners have announced details of a special one off hometown show for Christmas.

They’ll play the Manchester Ritz on Thursday 13th December.

Tickets go on sale on Friday (12th October) at 9am.

The band are also set to release their new single ‘Acrylic’ on October 22.

Athlete have announced a quick three date tour of very intimate venues, with no tickets available online, only from the listed record shops beside each date. This is the celebrate their new album “Beyond the Neighbourhood”, which is out on Monday 3rd September.

Next week’s Tiscali Showcase at Soho Revue Bar will be headlined by Athlete, with support coming from fast, angular Parka and Eugene McGuinness who sounds distinctly like a distinctly wacky Air Traffic, or a slowed down stoned Architecture In Helsinki. They’ll all play the Soho Revue Bar next Thursday, 16th August.

Tickets at £8.50 each are available here to over 18’s only unfortunately. Doors are at 8:45pm.

Athlete have announced that they will be playing a “secret” low key gig in South East London next Thursday, 5th July. Apparently the venue is easily accessibly by bus, DLR and British Rail. Full details of the location of the gig will be sent out with the tickets a few days before the event.

200 tickets will be available from their official website at 9am tomorrow (Tuesday 26th June).

The first of this week’s on sales have been announced, with The Twang, Klaxons and Athlete all announcing dates that are on sale on Friday morning at 9am, with the exception of The Twang, which are on sale at 9am on Thursday (apparently). Expect them all to sell out very quickly.
