It is now summer time as I’m sure most of you can tell with the days getting hotter and hotter. There are a lot of concerts going on this summer and early fall so so I thought I would create a post here asking what concerts or shows you have plans to attend?

Maybe you aren’t heading out for a concert but instead a baseball game. Tickets are are hot in places like New York City, Boston, and Chicago as they always are. I’m suprised with how high some of the Cubs bleacher tickets are selling for during the upcoming series against the Cardinals in August. Secondary prices are hitting the $180-$185 per ticket for that Saturday game! Of course, we have the MLB all star game happening next week as well and it is going to cost $400 just to get into the stadium for the non-alcoholic seats in Yankee Stadium.

Don’t forget that the NFL and College Football season is upon on. Four to six more weeks and you will really be hearing about the NFL and College tickets. Tickets are already available from season tickets holders so it is a perfect time to buy and get the great seats at every stadium!

This fifth full-length album from the Icelandic post-rock heroes, whose title translates as ‘With A Buzz In Our Ears We Play Endlessly’, is the follow-up to their double EP set ‘Hvarf’/’Heim’ from 2007. Working for the first time with an outside producer - the famed Flood (U2, Depeche Mode, Smashing Pumpkins) - they have made the most joyous, exuberant, widescreen record of their career, as well as performing a songin English for the first time. Includes the free, download-only single ‘Gobbledigook’.[Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust]

Formed in 1994, this experimental Icelandic group first came to mainstream attention with the release of their second album, Agaetis Byrjun, and in particular the single Svefn-g-englar.

Combining the traditional instruments of the rock band with some novel playing techniques, they manage to create an incredibly fragile, complex and unique sound, with a sparseness and atmosphere that evokes strong imagery of their homeland.

The band’s third album, cryptically entitled ( ), contained the song Untitled 4, which many will recognise as the music which tracked Tom Cruise’s gravity-defying leap in the film Vanilla Sky.

More recently the band recorded and performed original music for a modern dance piece, Split Sides, which was produced by legendary New York choreographer Merce Cunningham.[more info]

Def Leppard adds shows to upcoming tour

80’s band Def Leppard who are touring in Europe have added six new dates to their upcoming U.S. tour with dates added for Biloxi, MS; Des Moines, IA; Omaha, NE; Dayton, OH; and Syracuse, NY. Billy Idol will open the majority of the shows (Aug. 6-15 and 17-21), and special guests on other select dates include Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (July 30 - Aug. 3), Everclear (Aug. 16) and Styx/REO Speedwagon (Aug. 23).

Montley Crue gears up for Crue Fest

Montley Crue just released their latest album titled “Saints of Los Angeles” and are getting ready to head out on the road for their upcoming Crue Fest Tour. The Tour is going to rock as they hit up over 40 cities starting July 1st. Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Nikki Sixx’s side project Sixx:A.M. and Trapt will all be appearing on the tour with the Crue.

The Cure have said that this will be their last album, and more then likely the last tour that they will get together to do. You should do everything you can do to get out there and catch one of the concerts. Tickets aren’t too expensive and they are hitting up over 40 cities so you really don’t have an excuse not to go! Having been unceremoniously dropped by their previous record label, 679, The Futureheads embarked on something of a crusade for independent music with their self-released third album ‘This Is Not The World’. Clearly disillusioned with the lacklustre performance of their second album (’News And Tributes’), this release represents a lunge for creative and industrial freedom for the band. Musically a step back into thesprightly and motivated territory covered on their self-titled debut, ‘This Is Not The World’ is not designed to be subtle. Taking the best of post-punk, new wave, and pop as inspiration, Sunderland’s Futureheads were among the best of the U.K.’s “angular” movement, which also included Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party. The band began as a trio of vocalist/guitarist Barry Hyde, bassist Jaff, and drummer Pete Brewis. Hyde and Brewis were tutors at a lottery-funded organization called the Sunderland City Detached Youth Project, which aimed to get kids off the street by having them play music instead. The band — whose members were still in their teens themselves — also used the building as a practice space, along with other area groups. The rest of the Futureheads’ lineup was also culled from the Sunderland City Detached Youth Project: vocalist/guitarist Ross Millard and Hyde’s little brother Dave, who eventually took over drums duty from Brewis. Duffy Rockferry Tour

Duffy - I can’t say that I have been a fan of Duffy. Matter of fact this is the first album that I listened to. But I have to say I really liked her sound. The music spoke to me and caught my ear. Made me want to play the songs over and over again. What a great album.

Rockferry, the Welsh singer’s lovingly constructed debut album, has already succeeded beyond expectations, and although Duffy may not quite be the ingénue portrayed by a clever press campaign (she nearly won a local television talent show a few years back while a single credited to Aimee Duffy is still available on iTunes) she is surely the most appealing of the current flood of young soul sirens. The astonishing title track, co-written by Bernard Butler, sounded like a lost transmission that had taken decades to get through as soon as it hit radio last year. But the gently rolling soul ballad “Stepping Stone”, that strapping, inescapable monster hit “Mercy”, the ice cool “Serious” (the one time she really does channel the spirit of Dusty Springfield) and the wistful, elegant “Warwick Avenue” are similarly effective. Suggestions by some that Rockferry is little more than sixties pastiche are churlish. [more info]
