American Idol Summer Tour

American Idol, now in its sixth season, is one of the most watched shows in television. This summer, the final ten contestants will go on a full-fleged U.S. summer tour! You have the chance to see your favorite Idols perform live onstage! Didn’t vote for the winner? That’s okay, it seems like you don’t have to win the show to get a contract. Although Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have done well for themselves, the other winners haven’t fared so well. Taylor Hicks has been reduced to car commercials, while Daughtry has one of the best selling rock albums. Then there’s Clay Aiken with his menagerie of Claymates, while Ruben Studdard has almost disappeared. The show has been getting a lot of hype because the singers aren’t as talented as they’ve been in the past. However, I think the summer concert may show some of the weaker performers in a new light. Think about it this way, while the Idols on the show are technically performing in front of millions of viewers, there live studio audience is pretty small. Plus they only have to be on top of their game two nights a week. This is a live tour they’re going on. The live audiences will be much bigger, and they will have to be perfect almost every night in a row for about three months. This may be the true test of musical talent. The tour kicks off in July in Florida and ends in New Hampshire in September. Visit the American Idol page for full venue and date details!
