More Cowbell fave The Dismemberment Plan is reuniting to benefit Callum Robbins, the son of J. Robbins and Janet Morgan. As you may recall from Kyle’s previous post, young Robbins was diagnosed with Type 1 SMA, or Spinal Muscular Atrophy, an often fatal disease.
Obviously, a DPlan reunion is exciting news, it’s unfortunate that it took such a serious cause to bring them back together. If you can’t make it to the show, please consider donating to help Cal and his family at DeSoto. Also, check out Cal’s blog.
I had the joy of seeing former Dplan members, Eric Axelson and Joe Easley’s band Statehood earlier this year and really impressed - it was a high energy show and lead singer Clark Sabine’s voice was a perfect fit for their punk roots. For any DCists here, Statehood is playing the Black Cat tomorrow (March 2) with the Thermals. I highly recommend seeing these guys if you have the chance.
Tickets for the DPlan reunion here.
Edit: I’m very, very happy to report that I’ll be able to bring you a full report as I was able to get tickets. From my best estimate it sold out in less than a minute (but who would not have guessed that would happen?).

Thanks to Foundation and Ghostly International, Morecowbell.net has 4 pairs of passes to give away to the Matthew Dear (as Audion) show on Friday, March 16th in Minneapolis.
update:
Contest has closed and the winners have be chosen, thanks for the entries…
Matthew will be performing as a DJ at Foundation but today Ghostly revealed deatils about his upcoming record: “Matthew Dear’s long-awaited sophomore album, Asa Breed, arrives this June on Ghostly. Moving beyond his dancefloor roots on Spectral Sound, this record finds Dear further exploring vocal pop, with expanded instrumentation, and of course the forward-thinking production values he’s become known for. The preliminary 10? single “Deserter” is out May 8 and includes a remix from Four Tet as well as a non-album B-side.”
We’re excited, more info it at Ghostly
