Susstones “Spring Break” 2007
Saturday - March 31
400 Bar
Minneapolis, MN
9pm

If you’re anywhere near the West Bank of Mpls Saturday night, you really should be at the 400 Bar to catch an extremely rare solo appearance by Susstones guru / Polara mastermind Ed Ackerson. Ed will be playing some stuff from his upcoming solo release and, i’m here to tell ya, these tunes are effin’ awesome. Not so much “solo” or “acoustic,” but definitely not the layered, effect-laden “dream pop” of Polara or The 27 Various either. Ed’s band will include ex-Jayhawk Marc Perlman and super-drummer Peter Anderson as well as a keyboardist and possible special guests. This is all part of the Susstones “Spring Break” wingding which also features The Melismatics (just back from SxSW) and The Mood Swings (who will be previewing material from their upcoming EP).

Music starts at 9 or so; Ed goes on at 10:30.
6 bucks at the door - thongs optional.

Cloud Cult CD Release Shows TONIGHT

Source: morecowbell.net

Cloud Cult

Cloud Cult are set to release their 6th full length, The Meaning of 8, on April 10th (however, you can order it on their website now and word is it will ship right away).

The Meaning of 8 expands on the sound of their last album, Advice From The Happy Hippopotamus, but is a much fuller and more realized album. While it’s a bit early to call it my favorite Cloud Cult album, I can safely say this is without a doubt the best album they have made. The band has seen their national fanbase steadily increase over the last few years, but I think their time to break even bigger overdue. Hopefully this record will be the catalyst to even bigger and better things for them.

The band will celebrate the albums release tonight with 2 shows at the fabulous Varsity Theater. An early All Ages show (doors at 5pm) and a late 21+ show (doors at 9pm). Hot IQ’s and Kaiser Cartel open both shows. The late show is sold out, but if you hurry you can still pick up a ticket for the early show (which i will be at).
