Tom Jones was born in Wales in 1940 and began singing in church at a young age. By 1963 he had begun singing full-time in local pubs and dance halls and a year later signed to Decca Records and kicked off his career in earnest with the hit single “”It’s Not Unusual”. He released a string of hits such as “”What’s New Pussycat” and “”Thunderball”. He had his own variety show on ABC in 1969 and later moved to Las Vegas where he performed popular live acts on a nightly basis. Towards the late 1970’s his style was more country oriented and he went on to change his style again to appeal to a younger audience with a rendition of Princes hit single “Kiss”. In the early 90’s he recorded an album with Van Morrison and played at the Glastonbury Festival and in 1994 he signed to Interscope Records and released album “The Lead and How to Swing It” and went on to release a live album in 1997.
